Our Story
Started by Dr. Christina Smith, our practice has been a part of the beautiful Black Mountain, NC, community for over 15 years. Three years ago, Dr. Valerie Wise joined our practice, bringing and sharing over 30 years of career experience to our eye care clinic.
After a long and brave battle with breast cancer, we lost our beloved friend, Dr. Christina, in August 2019. Today, Wise Eye Care continues to provide the people of Black Mountain with excellent eye care. Together, we’re committed to building relationships, helping those in need, and creating a warm and welcoming family environment.
Meet Dr. Valerie Wise
Dr. Valerie Wise has been in practice for over 30 years, serving the West North Carolina region. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree, cum laude in Pre-Medicine, from the University of Dayton. She then received her Doctor of Optometry Degree from the University of Missouri/St. Louis Optometry School in 1990.
In 1991, Dr. Wise completed a residency at the O’Donnell Eye Institute in St. Louis, MO. She trained in the management of ocular diseases and pre & post-op surgical care, emphasizing the fitting of specialty contact lenses.
Dr. Wise is currently an active member of the North Carolina Optometric Society, Mountain District and Piedmont District Optometric Societies, and the American Optometric Association.
